The Nokia E72 Phone In Silver
At a glance, the Nokia E72 Silver looks like a Blackberry. The fully functional Qwerty keypad, attractive curves and an altogether cool yet business like design. When push comes to shove however is the design just a gimmick on the part of Nokia or is this a true competitor in the Blackberry area of the market.
In terms of looks, there is no doubt that the E72 is an attractive handset. Measuring 114 x 58.3 x 10.1 the unit sits perfectly in your hand, and the 128 gramme weight is fairly standard for a device of this type. Nokia are however very aware of where they want this phone to appeal and that is the higher, perhaps more discretionary end of the market, and due to this the inclusion of a metal trim that surrounds the fascia and the battery cover of the phone is a very appealing addition. Rather than a mass of plastic the handset looks sleek and expensive. The 2.36″ display QVGA is capable of displaying over 16 million colours, however I cannot help but feel the addition of an extra third or half of an inch of screen would have been beneficial. The keys on the full Qwerty keypad feel tactile and not to cramped and a lot of thought has obviously been given to the layout due to commonly used punctuation not requiring a shift key.
The 5 million pixel camera that the Nokia E72 Silver boasts is an impressive affair. Backed up by an LED flash and autofocus, the camera is one of the more higher spec devices available. 5 x Digital Zoom, red eye reduction and a range of light sensitivity modes can be found and the result are very pleasing. Couple this to the fact the E72 also boasts video recording at 15 frames per second and also a secondary front camera for video calling and all in all the imaging side of things is fairly well covered. The Nokia E72 is primarily aimed at people who frequently need to message, be it via e mail or SMS so its only fair to mention the features within this area of the phone. Generally there is a whole host of support for different e mail account types including Basic POP, IMAP4, ActiveSync and and Nokia Messaging. It is possible for you to have several e mail accounts active at once, and which ones you are automatically push notified from is defined by the user.
The Nokia E72 Silver is certainly a very impressive handset. The silver finish on this addition adds even more style to what was alreay a great looking device. The superb camera facility and comprehensive mail settings mean this phone will ultimately appeal to the more high end user who wants to be constantly kept up to date whilst on the go.
